Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Carmossa Inc. (“Carmossa”, “we”, “us”) when you use carmossa.com or the Carmossa apps. Using the service means you accept them. If you are booking on behalf of a dealership or a company, you are agreeing on that company’s behalf and you confirm you are allowed to.
The short version. Carmossa is a marketplace, not a trucking company. The carrier who hauls your vehicle is an independent, licensed business responsible for the transport and carrying its own insurance. We take 10% of the gross, capped at $150 per vehicle — everything else goes to the person actually driving. A Fair Rate quote is an estimate until a carrier accepts it. Every handoff needs a code and gets photographed, and those photos are kept for seven years.
What Carmossa is#
Carmossa connects people and dealerships who need a vehicle moved with independent motor carriers who move vehicles for a living. We provide the pricing, the booking, the vetting checks, the tracking and the documentation. We do not haul vehicles.
The carrier you book is an independent business. Carriers and their drivers are not Carmossa employees, agents, partners or subcontractors, and we do not control their equipment, routing, staffing or day-to-day decisions. The contract of carriage for your vehicle is between you and that carrier. Carmossa is not a party to it.
Accounts#
You must be 18 or older. Give us accurate information and keep it current. Keep your login to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@carmossa.com if you think someone else has access to it.
Fair Rate quotes are estimates#
A Fair Rate is our honest calculation of what a move should cost, based on real road miles between the two points and the weight class of the vehicle you described. You can adjust the price up or down, and we will tell you up front when you are below Fair Rate — a low price is not illegal, it is just slower to get accepted.
A quote is not a booking and not a binding offer. The price becomes firm when a carrier accepts your shipment at that price. If the facts change — the vehicle does not run, it is modified, oversized or heavier than described, an address changes, or a location a truck cannot reach turns out to need a meeting point — the price can change or the carrier can decline the load.
What Carmossa charges#
- Our fee is 10% of the gross transport price, capped at $150 per vehicle. Per vehicle — never calculated on a combined multi-vehicle total.
- You pay a flat $200 deposit when you book. Our fee comes out of that deposit; the rest is credited toward the transport price.
- The balance is settled directly with the carrier at delivery. Carmossa never holds it, and Carmossa is not an escrow agent. Accepted payment methods at delivery are shown on the shipment.
- Any additional charges agreed with the driver — an oversized or modified vehicle, a change you request after booking — go 100% to the driver. We do not take a cut of them.
The fee is printed on the quote and on the receipt. If you ever find a charge from us that is not one of the above, it is a mistake and we want to hear about it.
What you are responsible for#
- Accurate vehicle information. Year, make, model, whether it runs, and any modification that changes its size or weight. Carriers plan a load around what you told them; a wrong answer can mean a re-price, a refused load or a charge for a wasted trip.
- The legal right to ship it. You must own the vehicle or be authorised by the owner to have it transported. Do not book a vehicle you cannot lawfully move.
- Preparing the vehicle. A quarter tank of fuel or less, no active leaks, alarms disabled, keys available, and loose or fragile parts secured.
- Personal items. Carriers are licensed to haul vehicles, not household goods, and cargo insurance does not cover the contents of a car. Do not load personal items unless the carrier agrees in writing. Anything you leave in the vehicle travels entirely at your own risk, adds to weight, and is not covered by anyone. Never ship anything illegal, hazardous, firearms, or anything alive.
- Being there. You or an adult you authorise must be present at pickup and at delivery to run the code handshake, look at the photos, and sign.
Pickup codes and photo evidence#
Code before keys, always. Each handoff uses a six-digit, single-use code that expires in ten minutes and is shown to both parties. Do not give the code to anyone except the driver standing in front of the vehicle. A code that has been shared is a vehicle released to the wrong person, and that is not a risk we can undo for you.
By booking a shipment you agree that the vehicle will be photographed at pickup and at delivery, that those photos carry a timestamp and — where the device allows it — the location they were taken, that delivery is confirmed with an electronic signature, and that Carmossa retains all of it for seven years. That record is what a damage claim is decided on. If something is wrong at delivery, note it before you sign. Details of how this information is stored and who can see it are in our Privacy Policy.
Carrier vetting — what it is and what it is not#
Before a carrier can accept loads on Carmossa we check that they:
- Have been in business three years or more.
- Have USDOT and MC numbers that verify against public federal FMCSA records.
- Carry cargo and liability insurance, re-verified per truck every month.
Vetting is a screen, not a guarantee. We do not warrant any carrier’s performance, punctuality, equipment, conduct or solvency, and we do not guarantee that an insurer will pay a given claim. Damage that happens in transit is the carrier’s responsibility, and the carrier’s cargo insurance is the primary coverage for it. We will hand you the photo record and help you make the claim; we cannot make it for you.
Cancellations and changes#
You can cancel a shipment from your account. Because the deposit is what commits a truck to your vehicle, the refund treatment depends on where the shipment is in its life — the cancellation terms that apply to your booking are shown before you confirm it and again on the shipment record. Read them there; they control.
Carriers can decline a load before accepting it, and can cancel afterwards for reasons like a breakdown, weather, a closed road or a vehicle that turns out not to match its description. If that happens we put the shipment back on the board and work to re-cover it. Carmossa can also cancel a shipment we believe to be fraudulent, unsafe or in breach of these terms.
Things you may not do#
- Book a vehicle you do not own or are not authorised to move, or ship a stolen vehicle.
- Give false information about a vehicle, an address, an identity or a payment.
- Take a shipment you were matched with on Carmossa off-platform to avoid the fee.
- Interfere with the code handshake, the photo record or the signature — including asking a driver to skip, fake or backdate any of it.
- Harass, threaten or discriminate against a driver, a dispatcher, a customer or our staff.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, resell, or attempt to break into any part of the service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission.
- Use someone else’s account, or share yours.
What you upload#
Photos, notes, damage reports and signatures you add stay yours. You give Carmossa a licence to store and use them to run the service, to document the shipment, to settle disputes about it and to keep the records described above. You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload.
Disclaimers#
The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
We give honest ETAs rather than flattering ones — and an honest ETA is still an estimate. Weather, traffic, breakdowns, road closures and the realities of a multi-car route move dates. Dates on Carmossa are estimates and are not guaranteed.
Limitation of liability#
To the fullest extent the law allows, Carmossa is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or the loss of use of a vehicle. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid Carmossa for the shipment the claim arises from.
Loss of or damage to a vehicle in transit is the carrier’s liability under its contract of carriage and its cargo insurance — not Carmossa’s. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify Carmossa against claims arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Suspension and termination#
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used for fraud, or that puts a vehicle, a driver or the platform at risk. Obligations that should survive termination — payment for a completed move, the record retention, the liability limits — survive it.
Governing law and disputes#
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that is not resolved between us goes to the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you and Carmossa consent to that venue.
Before filing anything, write to support@carmossa.com and describe the problem. Most of what ends up in court is a misunderstanding that a phone call would have handled.
Changes to these terms#
We update this page when the terms change, and we change the date at the top. If a change is material we will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Carmossa after that means you accept the new version. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
